QDP FAQ

Quality Dental Plan FAQ

What is Quality Dental Plan?

Quality Dental Plan (QDP) is a new dental membership program that we now offer at World of Smiles, Pediatric Dentistry. It’s not dental insurance, it’s much better! With QDP you pay no monthly premium, there are no frequency limitations, and you pay no deductible. For a patient, QDP is much better than insurance because the relationship stays between the dentist and the patient…which cuts down on paperwork and outside limitations from a dental company that may not have the best plan in place to care for your dental needs.

This results in lower costs for treatment and preventative visits for the patient, and it means that the money you pay goes directly to the cost of your dental visit : it’s not extra! For patients with no dental insurance that are looking for smarter options, this can be a great resource.

How did you come up with QDP? I’ve never heard of it before.

This concept has been used in other parts of the country for many years. Dr. Stafford wanted to bring the added patient value represented by the QDP approach to our local pediatric community, and provide our patients without insurance an affordable option for care.

What is included in my yearly QDP Membership?

All QDP members at World of Smiles, Pediatric Dentistry (in our case – your children!) receive two complete exams, two cleanings, one set of bitewing x-rays or a panoramic film, sealants at age 6 or older, and 25% off all additional dental services. Patients also receive a substantial discount on the SoniCare for Kids in our office, as well as a courtesy offered on other products such as Baby Bling non-flouridated toothpaste, TastyPaste, Mavala Stop, and MI Paste.

What if I prefer not to use the fluoride treatments or my child isn’t due for sealants yet, can I get a discounted Membership Fee?

To maintain low administrative costs, the QDP Membership Fee is the same for all Members, regardless of the benefits they choose to use within their annual year. We’ve found that as families renew from year to year, the more they save over a period of time as their children grow older and require more services.

QDP sounds too good to be true. So what’s the catch?

The QDP Membership business model is very simple… and there really isn’t a catch. By your child becoming a member, they will receive the benefits outlined above during their annual membership year. In reviewing the out of pocket costs a patient with no dental insurance would pay yearly for two visits and the additional benefits outlined, we wanted to offer these Preventative services to our families at a fraction of the cost. This represents the yearly membership fee, and has the added benefit of an extra 25% courtesy off treatment services.

How much does it cost, and do I have to pay the entire QDP Membership Fee in advance?

For one child, the cost is $495.00 yearly. Each additional family member is $450.00 per year. If you choose to sign your children up at different times, they will have different renewal dates noted on your Membership Benefit Sheet.  This breaks down to about $40 per month, while many dental insurance premiums can be upward of $100 per month.

The entire Membership Fee must be paid in full before a patient can receive QDP Member Benefits. This allows us to offer the courtesy discount and keep administrative costs low.  We accept cash, check, or credit card to pay for your Membership Fee and any treatment that is done as a QDP Member. Due to the specific fee structure of CareCredit, we are unable at this time to accept CareCredit as payment for a QDP Membership.

For Members that would like to use CareCredit as a payment resource for their Treatment, the 25% discount is reduced to 15%.

How do I sign up, and how do I know when to renew?

It’s easy to sign up! Fill out our membership form online, or see a Business Team Member to apply. We will send you a reminder one month prior to your renewal, and you can renew at any time.

What else do I need to know?

The QDP program is used only for patient families with no dental insurance benefits. If you currently own a dental membership benefit plan such as Ameriplan or Dentemax, or if your family is currently covered under a dental insurance plan, you will not be eligible for Quality Dental Plan.

Remember that your QDP Member Benefits are annual. This means that they are good for one year from the day you sign the membership agreement. Benefits will expire at the end of that year until we receive your renewal paperwork and Membership Fee.

Your QDP Membership only extends to work completed in this office. We are working with other specialists, such as orthodontists and our anesthesiology team, and hope to be able to offer an extension of our Member Benefits soon.

If you own your own business, or work for a local employer, QDP can be offered as part of your employee benefits plan. Call our office at 503-626-9700 x204 to learn more about how a QDP Membership can be a tax benefit to your business!
