Creating a safe diet for you children’s teeth

Friday, June 18th, 2010

Be sure to keep your child’s diet well-balanced.  We recommend limiting or eliminating the foods that have added sugars or starch in them. These are some of the main ingredients in causing cavities. By limiting these items you will be helping to prevent cavities. Here is a list of some snacks and food items we do not recommend: Candy, Soda, Kool-Aid, Fruit Snacks, Fruit Leathers, Fruit Roll-ups, Juice (with sugar-added),Gummy/ sticky items, Chips (those high in sugar or high fructose corn syrup), Pudding, Jell-o, Ice cream, Chocolate, Cookies.

We suggest keeping these foods to Special Occasions: such as Family Fun Night, Holidays or Birthdays.

Here are some suggestions for health snacks: real fruit, veggies, cheese, frozen fruit and yogurt. By knowing what they are consuming you are on the right track to education and prevention leading to healthy smiles and happy kids!
